Welcome back to school!

We invite all our classes for a short orientation meeting on the first day of school, followed by a short presentation in the relevant homerooms. The orientation meeting gives you an opportunity to meet the team who will be working with your child.

8:30 - 3rd, 4th and 5th grade
9:00 - 9th and 10th grade (meet in the new building)
9:30 - 6th, 7th and 8th grade

At 12:00 there is a meeting for parents who are new to Iceland. We encourage new and returning parents to attend to find out more about services and opportunities offered to families in Iceland.

Happy Easter!

Students of all ages have enjoyed participating in Easter-themed projects this week in various subjects, just in time for Easter break.

Happy holidays!

Árshátið and sports day

It was a busy Wednesday last week in the youth department, with sports day followed by the annual ball, which this year followed a Hollywood theme, with most wearing fancy dress and glamourous masks.

The student council took care of all the preparations for the ball - the hall in Nauthóll was beautifully decorated and a special guest, Mr Peanut Butter was invited. The opinion of many students and teachers alike was that this was the best annual ball to date! Everyone has a good time, took to the dance floor and played games, making the hall resound with music and laughter.

The videos the students made this year were wonderful and the whole event filled staff with pride for working with the amazing teenagers of Landakotsskóli.
Ocean sustainability project
The workshop on ocean sustainability was focused on coastal and marine pollution and its effect on marine animals. It is an art-based learning project designed to engage learners on the imminent danger we face in contaminating the sea. Using the transformative learning concept, facilitators employed interdisciplinary approach to engage learners through series of hands-on creative activities while challenging learners to think about how to transform their existing thoughts to change the world around them. That way they are empowered to become stewards of the ocean, advocating for its preservation.

Christmas festivities are underway at Landakotsskóli with students of all grade levels participating in fun Christmas activities. Pictured here is the Christmas market the international 5th grade is holding, where they are selling baked goods and handmade crafts to raise money for the Red Cross in support of the people of Grindavík.
